
George Elliott Morrison
George Elliott Morrison, the son of George Alexander Morrison and Jessie
Rae Morrison, was born on December 24, 1897, in New York, NY. He attended
NYU where he studied banking and finance; CCNY, where he studied aeronautical
engineering; and Cooper Union, where he studied motor design and internal
combustion engineering. During World War I, he developed a new
supercharged aeroplane motor for the US Army and was Chief Engineer with Breese
Aircraft, Framingdale, NY, contractors to the Army. Later, he developed
and patented the Wonderlite Gas Generator. G. Elliott Morrison married
Dorothy Nash on June 10, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, and they had two children,
Patricia and Webb Nash. With his father, Morrison built, owned and
operated the Cedarshore Hotel and Cottages in Sayville until his early death.
G. Elliott Morrison served as First Vice President of the New York State Hotel
Association and was active in community and Long Island affairs. He was
Grand Master of Connetquot Lodge, member of the Sayville Parent-Teachers
Association, the Sayville Yacht Club and Sayville Rotary Club. G.
Elliott Morrison died on November 30, 1938 and is buried in St. Ann's Cemetery.
