A view of the Circulation Desk, seen from inside the Children's Room. The
egg tree at the right was a Sayville Library Children's Room tradition for more
than 35 years. The tree was made by library custodian Mr. Oertel and the
decorated eggs were made by children and adults in the community and donated to
the tree. Some of the eggs were real egg shells. Others were
styrofoam or plastic. Each year a few were broken or "retired" and new
ones took their place on the tree. Books for Easter and Passover were
always displayed by the egg tree. On the shelves below the egg tree are
the children's encyclopedias.
