These two structures that the library staff referred to as the
"gazebos", were part of the children's library and were built during the
1965 expansion project. The one on the left contained the children's
non-fiction collection. The one on the right was the activities room where
story times, film, puppet and craft programs were held for the children.
The activities room floor was originally lineoleum but later a green shag carpet
was installed making it more comfortable for the children to sit on the floor.
This photograph was taken just before the structures were demolished.
Photograph, dated 1983, from the collection of Sayville Library.
