Join us in Celebration of Black History Month! Utilizing images from local historical societies and private collections, Long Island History instructor and Author of Civil Rights on Long Island Christopher Verga will tell the story of how, although often overlooked, Long Island has been a battleground for the civil rights movement. The discussion will include local groups that fought to break racial barriers including former Sayville resident Father Divine, America’s first black baseball team the Cuban Giants and much more. This program will be live via Zoom. Registration is required.
