Program Description

Event Details

The first woman aviator flew on Long Island in 1910. Within months, other women were taking flying lessons on the Hempstead Plains and became among the first women licensed aviators. In the late 1920s, a 17-year-old woman from Freeport flew under all four East River bridges! And in 1928, another Long Island woman was responsible for propelling Amelia Earhart to fame. Join Dr. Natalie Naylor to learn about these and other Long Island’s pioneer women pilots.
